선언적 설명에 대해서 어떻게 생각할 것인가?

초록

In this paper, I first argue that we need to accept the existence of disjunctive explanation even if we do not accept the existence of disjunctive causation. Next, I argue that none of the major existing theories of explanation, namely the D-N model, the causal theories explanation, the unification account of explanation, and the counterfactual dependence theory of explanation, can properly explain our intuitions about disjunctive explanations. Finally, I argue that my theory of explanation, unlike the existing theories, can provide a systematic explanation of our intuitions about disjunctive explanations in a principled way.
